Frequently asked questions

Can I recover a property someone else is occupying?

Yes. Mexican law provides a court action for the owner to be recognized as such and to have the property returned. It requires proving ownership with your title, so preparing the evidence is half the case.

What if my access to the property was blocked?

If the right of way was legally established, a neighbor cannot simply close it on their own. The first step is reviewing how that access was created —by deed, by necessity or by use—; from there, there are legal ways to restore it.

Can I litigate from the United States?

In most disputes, yes. We work remotely with clients in the U.S. and tell you in the consultation exactly which documents are needed and which steps, if any, require someone to act on your behalf in Mexico.

How long does a real estate lawsuit take in Mexico?
